Anna Karenina is truly an amazing novel! I prefer it to War & Peace, to be honest -- though the latter is, of course, worth reading.
I'm planning on trying The Brothers Karamazov and Crime & Punishment when I get a chance. I haven't yet read anything by Dostoevsky, but he's such a giant of Russian literature, as you well know. Let me know if you find a good translation!
I also wasn't a big fan of Middlemarch. I enjoyed Eliot's elaborate metaphors and unique innovations in narration, but I don't really care for her writing style and characters.
